I find that for me (not of course that I consider myself to be a great writer) a balance has to exist before I can write good fiction.

Yes, much of what people seem to enjoy about my writing is quite sad, but I have to be in a place of at least moderate equilibrium to write it.

Much inspiration seems to well up for me from places of great sadness, but if I am too sad in the moment, I find I can’t write it down effectively.

If that makes sense.

Just a few random thoughts.
