I find as an artist that people seem to respond much more powerfully to my sad short stories than to my peppy ones.

I mean, I don’t tend to write stories with tragic endings, but my characters often reflect on the poignant and bittersweet instead of on the joyful.

In my experience, people like that. I think it makes them feel better, much like sad music can.
