I felt that way about the Woolworths on the corner of 8th avenue and 23rd. I mean it was as much my fault as anybody else’s. It’s not like I shopped there. I just enjoyed knowing it was there and that I could get a patty melt and a chocolate milkshake for under $5.

Speaking of the shortest route between two places, is the almost-secret passageway from Times Square Station to Grand Central still there? Even though it was a long walk that I probably could have done faster outdoors, it sure did come handy in cold weather!
