I feel you. Here in northwest Michigan, it's been the same all along. People here are fervent Trump supporters, just about everybody. During the heights of the pandemic in the summer of 2020 when my dad was actively dying of a respiratory illness, I was scared to death to go out because almost everyone around here refuses to wear masks.

In fact, then (and even today) when I went out wearing a mask, I got lots of angry glares.

Why are so many people so stupid and so awful? Why are they loyal to some sort of nonsensical political ideology that predisposes them to oppose a simple health measure that doesn't hurt them in any way but could sure as heck save a lot of people a lot of grief?

I wish I knew.
