I feel so much the same way. The only reason I have a Facebook account is to promote my work. That’s why I opened it. yeah I find myself getting sucked into negativity and time wasting that I just don’t like it all. Twitter is similar for me.

I do two things that help a lot. I’ve recently become very strict with myself about reading before bed. Reading a book, I mean. Remember that, remember when we used to do that?

It’s restored some sanity to my life.

Second, I’ve determined to use Instagram for nothing but posting personal photos that have nothing to do with work. Usually I post animal pictures, birds and my dog and cat.

Oh, and a third thing. I’ve taken to turning the volume down on my phone so I can’t hear alerts.

None of this has delivered me completely from the onerous burden of social media. But it helps!
