I feel constantly astonished that decent people travel to Dubai, or the other of the Gulf states, without so much as a moral compunction.

The people who run Dubai are twisted homophobic monsters. They're also twisted sexist pigs.

How do we go to places like this and enjoy ourselves as if it's just normal? Why? Why are the decent people of the world not exerting every possible pressure on the homophobic, sexist leadership of Dubai to change?

The idea that a scientific conference could be held there is just appalling.
