I experienced that personally, Rebeca! I spent the bulk of my adult life in Berlin, Manhattan, Montreal, and Detroit, all progressive and accepting places where homophobia is just an echo of thunder from somewhere over the horizon.

Now I live in rural Michigan and I feel that thunder shake my bones almost every day.

The move has been an important learning experience for me!
