I dunno about designers, (Trust me, I’m a fashion disaster! Lol) but engineers live and die by the motto just good enough. Ever wonder why ancient Roman bridges and aquaducts still stand while our own structures don’t last more than a few generations?

Our engineers (I was trained as one, but never worked as one) are taught to balance functionality with cost and efficiency. In other words, don’t “over-engineer” a structure that will probably be replaced in a hundred years or so anyway.

Eschew the perfect for the practical!
