I don’t think anything is wrong with my laptop. My old one behaved in exactly the same way. My phone and my laptop share the same speedy wifi connection.
When I call up news sites on my phone, AMP versions snap and pop to life instantly. On my laptop? Not so much. Oh, some very professional outfits like the New York Times and The Guardian do a good job. But others sites are full of horrible bells, whistles, beeps, and time-delaying baubles that make my job as a writer and researcher frustrating as hell.
AMP to you is a sign of Google “dominating” the Internet, but to me it’s a sign of Google taming the Internet and forcing developers to stop designing such awful websites.
AMP IS an answer to a serious problem that developers refuse to face.
I’m cheering Google on 1000% here. More power to AMP! I hope it continues to be the standard developers have to write to. It’s so much better for users!
