I don’t see any tension. If evidence needs to be evaluated better, then so be it. Science uses evidence to work toward the truth.

In this case, evidence is clear that conversion therapy doesn’t change sexual orientation and does cause increases in suicide attempts.

Religion doesn’t have anything to say about that. It would still be true whether or not any particular religion liked the data or not.

So where’s the tension?
