I don’t meditate regularly now, but I did until a few years ago twice a day for about 10 years.

I got to a point where I saw rippling colored lights fairly often, maybe one time out of every three or four sessions.

I sometimes heard fairly unmelodic music as well, just random notes strung together and melting into one another.

That only happened after I ditched the guided meditation tapes I started with that included music. They were probably useful in the beginning, but I found I did better in the end without them.

When I was younger I did a little experimentation with psilocybin mushrooms, and the colors and tones I experienced while meditating were not completely unlike a psilocybin experience.

But they were not the same either.
