I don’t know all the legal details, Anita, though I’m aware the ACLU went to bat for her as well as a couple of LGBT advocacy groups. I believe they were pessimistic about her chances of winning in court, and took other routes. I think the the Equality Act would have simplified things, but I’m a polemicist, not a civil rights attorney.
