I don’t know about the UK, but in the US $3,000 is about the least you can pay for a basic burial or cremation with no real funeral service. Anything extra, like a church service with a minister, flowers, or grave marker costs more.

Somebody has to pay for burial or cremation. Sort of a basic function of living in a civilized society, eh?
