I didn’t recognize the name of the town, and for moment I had a brief thrill. I thought you were going to start a fiction series and teach me a new word in the process.

I love those photos. I think think they reveal a Florida most of us rarely think about — the old southern state with charms and traditions that predate Disney, the age of tourism, and pastel retirement communities.

Not that I have anything against retiring to Florida. If I had any sense, I’d do it myself.
