I didn't click to read the survey or look at the methodology, so I might be totally off base here, but another factor to look at might be political affiliation. People in the United States who read the Bible regularly are likely to be conservative Christians and correspondingly to be conservative Republicans. The Republicans are appealing to the electorate by pushing a narrative that the American way of life is under attack. Fear mongering and scapegoating have been pervasive in Republican political messaging for years, and the tendency is getting more pronounced. (Republican political advertising on television this season where I live in dark, foreboding, and stress inducing — apparently by design.)
People who believe the Republican message that society is under attack by the forces of evil, who are winning, probably feel pretty negative right now. And I think those people are more likely to be regular Bible readers than other groups of people.
