I did a couple of years of cognitive behavioral therapy for PTSD, and “fake it til you make it,” is one of the tools that professional therapy tries to equip people with.

No, it’s not magic, and it won’t cure all that ails you. But being positive helps wire neural new networks together, and it’s an important step in healing.
