I couldn’t believe the text of the bill when I read it the other day. I don’t know if Missouri’s don’t say gay bill has a chance of passing, but if it does, it will be the most authoritarian such law in the U.S. It’s hard to imagine it surviving judicial review, but crazier things have happened.
Support for the bill, whether it passes or not, certainly rips the mask off plain bigotry, though.
Teachers in legal same-sex marriages, for instance, would be prohibited by the plain text of the law from mentioning their spouse to any student in any context.
Teachers in legal opposite-sex marriages of course, would not be so constrained.
You don’t get much more bigoted than that.
