I certainly think so, Sam. I didn’t include him because he’s by no means young anymore, but he’s certainly a thought leader, and an insidious one.

He’s been an apologist for conservative ideas about privilege for decades. He’s especially dangerous, perhaps, because he’s soft-spoken and not given to hyperbole or high passion.

He seduces with sharp intellect instead.

At the heart of the matter, though, right down at the foundation, his message is the same. “Everything is OK or moving in the right direction. The status quo may privilege certain people, but that’s offset by the fact that everyone eventually benefits. So, stop worrying about identity. It doesn’t matter.”

Sullivan is as blinded by personal privilege as Angelo.
