I can’t speak for the servers who work at the popular bar/restaurant in my small Michigan village, but they’ve told me they’re torn.
The owners won’t let them strictly enforce the mask mandate, seating restrictions, or the crowding policy at the bar. And some of them don’t necessarily want to, because they need tips to make a living, and enforcing covid-19 policies is a great way to piss customers off.
It’s all moot at the moment, because restaurants and bars are closed again until December 9th. But I know when these servers go back to work, they’re going to continue to feel like getting the coronavirus is just a matter of time.
The can’t survive without their low-paying jobs, but going to work puts them at great risk.
