I can’t believe this is happening all over again.

Until a few years ago, I worked closely with business associates who had immigrated to the United States from Iraq. Many of them came from families that had worked with the US military and had been stigmatized for it in Iraq. Many of their family members never made it out of Iraq, and were tortured and murdered for their former association with US forces.

Some of them were still trying to get family members out when Trump came into office. His policies ended any hope of that.

I’m dismayed and angry to see this starting all over again in Afghanistan.

We must bring the people who risk their lives to work with our soldiers to the United States. We must do it now without paperwork hassle, and we must stop squabbling about it.

It is our clear moral obligation.
