I can throw a big amen out to that.

I’ve pretty much taken the same road. I have a moderately substantial number of followers and my stories get pretty well read sometimes.

The partner program isn’t as generous to me as it used to be before the big change last fall, but I can’t complain. (Well I can, but there wouldn’t be any point. lol)

I rarely publish anything anywhere except my own personal publication, where I have the freedom to organize things the way I like them organized.

Every once in a while if a publication owner asks me to, I’ll submit an article to them. But even in bigger publications I’ve never noticed that had much impact on readership.

Maybe it’s just me, my niche topic, and audience. I don’t know.

Maybe I would be doing better if I were submitting to lots of publications. I don’t know that either.

But I can say that as a moderately successful Medium writer, I do pretty okay almost never submitting to pubs.
