I broke a finger once during a bicycle accident, and I wouldn't go to the hospital because I was being a typical tough American male. Now I can't use my finger. According to my doctor, surgery would be very difficult, and he can't even predict how much range of motion I would get back. He recommends I not have it done. He criticized me for not seeking immediate medical attention for something that would have been trivially easy to treat at the time. Told me not to do anything like that again.

Damian doesn't even have a choice. That's what's so awful about this.
