I believe the civil liberties argument is specious, because this isn’t about individual protection. The issue boils down on a moral level the same way the mask issue boils down.
We wear masks and take the vaccine to protect ourselves, of course, but –critically– we do those things primarily to protect our neighbors.
Not wearing masks or not taking a covid-19 vaccine put our neighbors at risk. We can only get the pandemic under control by working together and loving our neighbors as ourselves.
Anyone who cites individuals civil liberties as a motivator for not wearing a mask or not taking a vaccine fundamentally misunderstands what’s going on.
Or perhaps they fundamentally lack the ability to live as a moral member of a healthy society.
