I believe Garland's glacially slow investigation is feeding into public perception on the right that there's "nothing to see here." I understand DOJ has to take sufficient time to build solid cases, but but moving swiftly and decisively, treating the situation as an actual emergency, seems more than called for.
Biden entered office in a sort of moderate, return to business as usual manner that has meant just about nothing has gotten done.
Garland is walking down that same path.
Meanwhile, the Republicans are gearing up to take back Congress, seeming to exist on an entirely different plane of energy and urgency.
Should they take back Congress, they will not walk slowly. They will not urge moderacy. They will not conduct business as usual. I wish leaders on the left would understand that and take it into account.
