I assumed that’s what you meant by “complicated,” and I’m (I hope gently) challenging you on your usage. I think your article covers up a very important part of who Little Richard was, and I think “complicated” is a word that excuses and makes light of his homophobia.

I think marginalized people need to stand together. I would never call a racist complicated. I would call him a racist.

Likewise, I think we need to recognize and write clearly that Little Richard was a homophobic bigot.
