I am very afraid, because we stand at a cusp. A vote for Trump and right-wing Christian nationalism is a vote for cruelty, persecution of minorities, mistreatment of immigrants and the homeless — i.e. pretty much everything Trump's enthusiastic Christian supporters are slavering for.

I don't know how Christianity became a synonym for cruelty, and I know not all Christians are like that.

But MAGA Christians are cruel to the point of legislating their cruel religion, forcing others to follow it, demanding the submission to authority their religion is infamous for.

They demand submission of women, of queer people, of poor people, of Black people and ethic minorities. Then they offer their religion as a sop to the suffering. Remember the slave Bible? That kind of sop.

It's a horrifying vision of the future that might very well come true.
