I agree with what you're saying about Pharisee philosophy. I disagree with modern Christian assertions about the Pharisees, which comes from an early Christian tradition that drove the formation of anti-semitism. The point I'm making is that Jesus taught against legalism, which he reportedly claimed Pharasees of his time were guilty of. Therefore, Christians should (in my view) carefully eschew legalism and consequent judgmentalism, but conservative Christians instead seem to center it as the guiding ethos of their faith.
