I actually wrote a whole article once on how “that sucks” is sexist language that sends a toxic message, if only subconsciously. But as Elle Beau ❇︎ points out, people speak quickly and without thinking about subtle meaning and etymology.

Case in point, I sometimes find myself saying something “sucks,” without intending to, even though I told myself I was going to remove it from my vocabulary.

Changing language habits takes a tremendous force of will!
