Hyper-masculinity and it’s step-cousin, toxic masculinity, can be such big problems in so many different spaces.

It’s discouraging to me as a gay white man to see so many of my gay white counterparts indulging in misogyny and hyper-masculinity.

Growing up in a working-class world, I experienced enormous pressure to conform to hyper standards of masculinity.

Living in Detroit for many years, most of my friends being gay black men, I got to see some of the pressure they deal with. It’s rough!

We’re supposed to be getting better. Our world is supposed to be evolving. But, oh, how slowly.
