How far we have fallen.

I’m an American who lived in Montreal for a few years running a small tech consultancy firm. I was there during 9/11, witness to the outpouring of Canadian affection and support for Americans.

During that time nobody could doubt how close we were as friends, neighbors and even family.

Trump is a symptom of a collective psychosis that has overwhelmed the American body politic. He leveraged something rotten to seize and hold power. I am not at all surprised Canadians recognize this and abhor it.

I hope you are wrong about a Biden administration not being able to start turning this around.

But I fear you are right.
