Hmmmm, I wonder if you could ask your developmental editor to read Friday, by Robert Heinlein? It’s an example of a novel whose protagonist is a powerful, likable woman who is more than just middlin’ promiscuous. Heinlein had a gift for celebrating brilliant, strong women who experienced sex as healthy and positive — and who sometimes had quite a lot of sex with multiple partners.

I don’t know how his work stands the test of time. He passed away in the 80s, so some of his writing may feel dated and even offensive to people. I always experienced him as a feminist at heart, though. Some of his male characters were sexist, but his women never took shit, and they often ended up turning sexism on its head, using it against men who were clearly no match for them.

Your example is perfect, though. Four sexual partners in a year? Seriously? No man would ever be slut shamed for having only 4 partners.
