Hey Darren Stehle!

All good ideas, thanks!

As to taking a break, I’m loathe to lose momentum. I‘m afraid’ if I stopped witing for a while that I’d lose a proportion of the small following I’ve attracted on Medium. I don’t think that’s something I can afford to do.

As to a web site, that does sound like a good idea. I hadn’t thought about the the mailing list thing. Previously, the idea of a web site was unappealing to me, because it seemed like writing to a forum with an already-existing audience made more sense.

But collecting a mailing list sounds interesting in principle.

Practically, however …

I can barely figure out how to use Medium half the time. Many Medium features like private notes, series, and stats are like dark arts for me. Totally befuddling.

I’m sure that trying to figure out how to create and manage a web site and how to create and use a mailing list would be beyond daunting.

Writing takes up huge amounts of my time and concentration. I don’t know how to make time for more than that. I just don’t.

I was hoping that Medium could be a platform for me to collect my writing and attract readers.

I’m still hoping for that! It’s a very slow process, though.

My agent has seen the Caleb stories and she likes them. I don’t know if my publisher has, but she only publishes original material, so having written the Caleb stuff of Medium excludes it from her interest

I’ll ask my agent about other publishers who might have different policies.
