Hell, we have Jesus healing the centurion's slave, with nary a word uttered about the centurian except in praise of his faith. Slavery was a fact of life in Biblical days. No one thought to condemn it in practice or theory. Philosophies inherent in some biblical writings can be used to construct opposition to slavery, but such opposition is a modern phenomenon, rooted in Enlightenment thinking, not Christian thinking, although many Christians during the 19th century embraced Enlightenment thinking and attempted to backfit their theogical worldviews to support it.
Many other Christians (like slavery supporters in the American South) made no such attempt. But, arguably, slavery supporters had more of a claim to biblical support than Abolitionist Christians had.
