Hear hear! Very well said.

It took me a few years longer than you to make the decision to live fully out — to embrace my queerness as an essential, defining part of me.

Where you needed to go to graduate school to find a nurturing environment, I have to leave a budding career in the military and move to New York City.

Living in a place where gay was ordinary changed me in very profound ways. I wonder what I would have become if I had stayed in a conservative environment.

I’m glad I never had to find out.
