Hear hear!

If there were ever a moment or a climate in which we progressives needed to throw all our force and enthusiasm toward supporting the Democratic Party, this is it.

No, the Party is a not a center of progressive thought, though more and more progressive principles are finding themselves center stage. Normalized. Thinkable.

The Party will be moved further left by cooperation and evolution. Especially as younger people take their places.

The alternative to the Democrats is unthinkable. Trump has seized complete control of the Republican Party. Not only is he manifestly unfit to lead in a crisis, he has capitulated to the darkest forces in our society to maintain his grasp on power.

He normalizes racism, xenophobia, and homophobia by throwing his public support behind actual hate groups. He’s directed his administration to gut civil liberties regulations.

The judiciary is rapidly being overwhelmed with under-qualified, rightwing extremist judges.

To start digging ourselves out of the horrifying mess we find ourselves in is going to require practical politics — the art of the possible.

It’s time to pull together and “get possible.”
