Hear hear! As an editor of generally amateur writers on Medium, I wholeheartedly endorse your software endorsement. My Prism & Pen Medium pub puts out an average of three to four stories a day, and while we value (and exist to amplify) real stories by ordinary people, we also value clarity and clean writing. That means I have my work cut out for me! And how.

Sometimes I recommend Grammarly to writers whose work I have to spend a lot of time on, and when they take my recommendation, my daily (uncompensated) work load goes down. And that's just with the free version!

When I run my own writing through Grammarly, I always find something I can fix or make more clear. I know writers who say they don't want to be constrained by overly anal grammar rules, and I get that. I use non-standard grammar sometimes for emphasis or authenticity, and using Grammarly doesn't change that.

It does help me spot weaknesses in my writing, like falling into passive voice without realizing.

Even the best writers need editors, and Grammarly ain't a half bad substitute. Especially if your budget doesn't allow for hiring a pro.
