Hear, hear. I use Twitter because it's useful for promoting stories. Because lots of people use Twitter. I don't think I would stop using Twitter for that reason unless everybody left.

In the meantime, getting all emotional about who's there and who isn't seems unproductive. Time will tell, but like you I suspect that Twitter will just keep on motoring along with ups and downs.
