Hear hear!

I agree with you very much in general, and you hit two of my pet peeves.

  1. I totally get why athletics are important in universities. Sound mind in sound body and all that. But how did we get to this perverse place where huge money changes hands in ways that rarely or never benefits actual academics? University athletics are for the large part professional athletics they have nothing to do with education. Universities need to divest themselves of this ridiculous system.
  2. Magical thinking and anti-intellectualism abound. Just look at all the astrologers on Medium. Every astrologer in the world is either a charlatan or a fool. Anyone who subscribes to that kind of ridiculous magical thinking is an idiot. Yet everywhere you look, you see people turning to idiocy like astrology, because they have no idea how to think. They wouldn’t know reason and rationality if it slapped them upside the head. And they certainly aren’t being taught it in school.
