Hahahaha. I spent a year writing this, a couple years off and on rewriting, and now I’m serializing it by retyping from a printed manuscript, rewriting again as I go.
Lots of opportunities to thread plot lines in and out, then weave detail into the timeline.
Also, I follow John Irving’s practice by writing the last chapter first, then writing toward the ending. That gives me a chance to build storylines that are more complex — because I know exactly where I’m going. I get off the freeway, track down country roads and still get back on again with the ultimate destination in mind.
