Groups like Moms for Liberty garner a lot of attention circulating lists of “pornographic” LGBTQ-themed books, and then people just take up the cry thoughtlessly. It’s hard to believe anyone actually reading the Heartstopper graphic novels could form the the opinion that they’re pornographic or inappropriate for children, especially since they’re acclaimed for being light-hearted and free of drugs, sex, and other adult content.

It boils down to one thing: The people who want Heartstopper and and similar books banned find any mention of trans or gay people inappropriate for children. That absurd, of course, but that’s their line in the sand.
