Great reply, and you saved me the trouble. I didn't think it's possible to have a rational conversation with this guy, who seems to suffer from delusions. He attacked me this morning in a comment to one of my own stories, which is why I even happened to see this article. He responded to my request that our cis/straight allies, loved ones and friends wake up a little to the current anti-LGBTQ backlash that's hurting so many of us.

This guy's response is that people like me, and me specifically, caused the backlash by trying to force or indoctrinate people into being gay.

How do you even respond to such nonsense? For years on Medium and in LGBTQ publications like the Los Angeles Blade, I have written stories urging people to acknowledge that trans and gay people exist — that we are healthy and morally, socially and legally equal to any other member of society.

Somehow this fellow translates that into trying to force people to be gay, which in his words is like "hate speech."

He's either not playing with a full deck or he's not bothered by inconveniences like truthfulness. But thank you for saving me the trouble of responding to his lamentation here. Your very thorough response is brilliant and better than what I probably would have managed. Well said!
