Great observations, thanks! I published a story only yesterday about a Christian school in Arizona run by a local-celebrity Southern Baptist pastor.

Said pastor threatened physical violence against a gay dad while telling him he was barred from entering school grounds where his daughter attends. (The dad has full joint custody of his daughter, but his ex-wife has legal authority to make educational decisions.)

The pastor told the gay dad that people send their kids to his school to keep them away from gay people.

I don’t know how that pastor can read Jesus into that. I can’t imagine anything less Christ-like.
