Great article, that was probably good to remember (in light of that "Messianic" tweet) that Jews tend to thoroughly despise so-called Messianic Christians as cultural appropriators and deeply disrespectful people. They say that when Christians begin to call themselves Jews just because they choose to, then they engage in overt anti-semitism and attempted cultural erasure.
I was just reading about this last night on Quora as a matter of fact for my bedtime reading. I somehow slipped out of my usual historical linguistics nightcap into an article about Messianic Judaism (actually a sect of Evangelical Christianity, a sort of "Jews for Jesus" only made up of non-Jews who call themselves Jews.)
In response to the original answer to a question asking if Messianic Christians can be properly considered Jews as they claim to be, Jews from around the world and across faith traditions kicked in to say hell no. Their claimed conversions are not recognized by any Jewish authorities and have no cultural or religious significance, other than being disrespectful.
From secular Jews to atheist Jews, to Reform Jews to Modern Orthodox, the sentiment was one of overwhelming disdain for "Messianic Jews," who were told and no uncertain terms to stay in their lane, label themselves as the Christians they are, and stop lying about being Jews.
