Great article, thanks so much for sharing. You know, the invention of sodomy is fascinating for a lot of reasons, not least that a plain reading of the story of Sodom doesn’t yield plain condemnation of homosexuality, and that subsequent commentators in the Bible itself, in antiquity, and straight up to the Middle Ages never connectioned the ephemeral dots later Christians claimed to have see.

Talmudic discourse? The sin of Sodom as homosexuality never comes up, because it's (charitably speaking) really out in left field.

That said, I love your commentary on self defeating the whole Don’t Say Gay campaign really is.

I wrote a short story the other day, by the way, in which a middle school boy who's out as gay to his friends and family internalizes shame and anxiety because of the school prohibition, despite having a strong support network. I think this is a real concern. This law is going to harm the wellbeing of a lot of people, and for no good reason.
