We have a little in common, Heather. I also raised a child who was born to a mother with drugs in her system. He was badly neglected for the first three years of his life, not good for his mental health at all, of course.

He isn’t trans, so our issues were different in some ways.

I write about LGBTQ issues all the time, though, including trans issues sometimes.

Speaking of genitals, I wrote this short story about a single dad, his trans son, and an albino wolf cub.

You may enjoy it. I wrote it for a young adult audience, but it packs a bit of an emotional punch and may not be appropriate for children.
