Great article! Same-sez marriage speaks to me powerfully because back in the year 2000, I lost my home after my partner died. Because we could not legally marry.

Which sort of points out two different paths of thinking here. Your ideas about how queer marriage advances equality for all of us are tremendously important.

Also, however, is the practical reality that many of us won’t enjoy full legal protection in our partnerships unless we take advantage of the contractual protections of civil marriage. It’s something to think about!
