Glad to see you writing about this, especially now when Kenya is introducing their own horrifying new law against queer people. It's very similar to Uganda's, imposing the death penalty in some cases and long prison sentences in others.

Just wearing a rainbow pin calling for LGBTQ equality would earn a 10-year prison sentence.

It's too horrifying for words.

I wonder, though, if conservative Christians are as turned off by prison sentences as they are by the death penalty.

It's one thing to not want us to die so that they can have time to "save our souls," but I guess they can save our souls all they want while we rot in prison cells.

Sorry to sound discouraged! I am encouraged by the trend you're noticing, and I hope it leads somewhere.
