Giving young athletes puberty blockers to keep their bodies childlike has always been considered medically unethical and has never been supported by physicians or medical professional associations. Not the same question or situation. Coaches and trainers obtained the meds on the black or grey market, not from licensed doctors -- who could never ethically provide them to give girls an athletic advantage in gymnastics.
In fact, the sport has been completely overhauled to stop giving scoring advantages to small girls over women. That's why you don't see 15 year olds who look 11 winning medals in gymnastics anymore.
It boils down to proper medical ethics - which is why doctors DO prescribe puberty blockers to trans kids and NOT to athletes (or boy sopranos) who want to extend their careers.
