Given all real power in the Catholic Church is exercised by a tiny handful of men (and never women, not ever) who lead luxurious lifestyles isolated from the needs of the people they dictate to, it's not surprising Church policy is often so horrific. Combine that with the Church hierarchy's insistence on "obedience" and things get even worse. The Church is the crystalized example of the patriarchy's dominance hierarchy.

I DID see that news about the billionaire in Utah who is leaving the LDS Church (with much of his family) over LGBTQ issues. I think it's a wonderful Christmas present. He also announced, btw, that he's giving away all his money. I don't know if he still considers himself to be a Christian, but giving your money away really is what Christians are supposed to do.
