Gay men like me are very aware of how men can be oppressed. We are often at the blunt, receiving end of things.

Many of us can clearly see it happening — to ourselves. Often, we already reject straight-jacket gender roles.

So, when we see our straight male friends and family struggling inside those straight jackets, we recognize oppression.

Masculinity is such a fraught topic. But in our society, it clearly needs a critical rethink.
